Mars and Olympus at Opposition - 12-13 oct 2020
Mars, at 2020 opposition. Planet size: 22.5 arcseconds, altitude ~60°. Taken in Cabri, Israel, 12-13.10.2020. Telescope: VX12 300mm f/4 Newtonian, AZ-EQ6 mount in Azimuthal mode, 3.5x siebert barlow, ZWO ADC, ASI290MC camera, Baader UV-IR cut. Processing in Autostakkert, AstraImage, Photoshop, Scale ~150%.
The photo features clearly visible "Olympus" mountain region (21km, highest known mountain in Solar System), Elysium mountain, "Curiosity" and "Spirit" landing areas, Newton crater, south pole ice caps and clouds over the north pole (see annotated image below):
